What this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Written in plain language. If something here is unclear, email hello@technical-humanist.com.
Effective date: September 20, 2026.
What is collected
Technical Humanist collects only the personal information reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, schedule conversations, deliver services, send communications you have requested, operate and improve this website, and meet my legal and business obligations.
I do not sell your personal information.
If you contact me, download a resource, subscribe to communications, book a meeting, or engage Technical Humanist for services, I may collect information such as your name, email address, company, role, communications with me, and information you choose to provide.
Please do not submit confidential, sensitive, health, financial-account, government-identification, or other highly sensitive information through website forms or scheduling fields unless I have specifically asked for it through an appropriate secure channel.
When you send a note
The contact form asks for your name, email, and what you're trying to improve, plus an optional service interest. I use it to reply to you. Signing up for email updates is a separate, optional checkbox.
Submissions reach me through Web3Forms, which passes them to my inbox, and are then stored in HubSpot, the CRM this practice uses. If you've asked about a service, you may receive a short follow-up sequence sent through Loops; every message has an unsubscribe link.
When you book a call
Scheduling runs through Calendly. Calendly may process information such as your name, email address, meeting details, time zone, and answers you choose to provide in scheduling fields.
The calendar is embedded in the Contact page and loads with that page. This means that when you open the Contact page, your browser contacts Calendly and Calendly receives your IP address and basic technical details, and may set its own cookies — before you book anything, and whether or not you go on to book. It happens on the Contact page only. If you would rather not load it, the same booking page opens in a new tab from the link underneath it, and you are welcome to email me instead.
I use this information to schedule and prepare for our conversation. I generally retain scheduling information for up to 12 months after the meeting date, unless a longer retention period is necessary because the conversation develops into an active prospect, client, contractual relationship, or another legitimate business record.
Calendly’s privacy notice covers how Calendly handles that data on its side.
The Snapshot
Your answers and result stay in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you ask for an emailed copy, in which case your email and the result text are sent once for that purpose. The newsletter choice is separate and off by default.
Field Notes and Field Guides by email
If you subscribe, I use your address to send new Field Notes and to tell you when a Field Guide is released. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Subscriber addresses are stored in HubSpot and emails are sent through Loops.
Marketing and relationship information
I use HubSpot to manage inquiries, communications, subscriptions, and prospective or client relationships.
I generally retain prospect and marketing-contact information for up to 24 months after my last meaningful interaction with you. A meaningful interaction may include requesting information, submitting a form, replying to a communication, scheduling or attending a meeting, discussing a potential engagement, or otherwise actively engaging with me.
Before deleting inactive marketing-contact information, I may send a limited re-engagement or permission-renewal communication. I may delete or anonymize information sooner when it is no longer relevant, such as information associated with spam, duplicate, test, or clearly irrelevant submissions.
If you unsubscribe from marketing communications, I will honor that request. I may retain limited information needed to document and maintain your communication preferences or comply with applicable obligations.
Website and product analytics
I use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Amplitude to understand how visitors use this website, its content, and its digital experiences. These tools help me measure aggregate activity, evaluate content and site performance, identify technical issues, and improve my services.
I do not intentionally send directly identifying information—such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or free-form form responses—to GA4 or Amplitude.
I use Amplitude Session Replay on a sample of visits. It records a reconstruction of the pages you saw and how you moved through them—clicks, scrolling, cursor movement, and page changes—so I can see where this site is confusing or broken. It is a redrawing of the page from structural data, not a video recording of your screen, and it is limited to this website.
Anything you type is masked before it leaves your browser: values in form fields are replaced with asterisks and never reach Amplitude, which is what keeps the commitment above true. On the AI Readiness Snapshot I go further and mask all on-screen text, because the answers there describe your organisation rather than mine. Session replay only runs if you allow analytics, and it stops if you decline.
Your browser or device may provide certain information to analytics providers through cookies or similar technologies. Where required or appropriate, I provide choices about non-essential tracking through the consent tools on this site. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
Cookies, and what this site does not do
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses them for two things: remembering your analytics choice, and the analytics themselves once you have allowed them.
The choice itself is stored in a cookie named th_consent. It records only "granted" or "denied", it stays on your device, and it is what stops the banner asking you again. Declining analytics means the GA4 and Amplitude cookies are not set at all.
There are no advertising pixels on this site. No Meta or Facebook pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok, X, or Pinterest tag, and no third-party behavioural advertising tracking of any kind. I do not sell or share your personal information, and I do not allow third-party behavioural tracking for advertising. If I ever add an advertising tag, it will be disclosed here and placed behind the same consent choice before it runs.
You can change your analytics choice at any time using the controls at the bottom of this page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works either way, though some conveniences may not persist.
Browsers differ in how they report a "Do Not Track" or global privacy signal, and there is no single standard I can reliably honour. Rather than claim otherwise: analytics on this site run only if you allow them through the banner or the controls below, whatever your browser sends.
Where this practice operates
Technical Humanist LLC is a Georgia limited liability company operating from the United States, and serves clients in the United States. Information collected through this site is processed in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in other countries.
I do not target, market to, or offer services to people in the European Union or the United Kingdom, and this notice is not written as a GDPR or UK GDPR notice. You are welcome to read the site from anywhere. If you are outside the United States and want to know what I hold about you, or want it deleted, email me and I will handle it the same way I would for anyone else.
Children
This site is meant for people working in and around organisations, and nothing on it is marketed to children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and if you are under 13 please do not use this site or enter anything into its forms.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has given me personal information, email me and I will delete it promptly.
The email I send you
I use your name and email address to reply to you, to process and confirm what you asked for, to send the Field Notes and Field Guides if you subscribed, and to follow up about a service you asked about.
For every marketing email I send:
- The sender address and subject line describe what the message actually is. No misleading subjects, ever.
- A physical mailing address appears in the message.
- There is a working unsubscribe link at the bottom.
- Unsubscribe requests are honoured promptly, and you never have to explain why.
- Loops sends these messages on my behalf, and I keep an eye on that it behaves.
Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not cancel a reply to an email you sent me, or a message about an engagement you are part of — those are not marketing. If unsubscribing is not working, email hello@technical-humanist.com and I will remove you by hand.
If there is a breach
If a breach affecting your personal information happens, I will notify you by email in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with applicable law and with any measures reasonably needed to determine the scope of the breach and restore the integrity of the affected systems.
I would rather tell you what I know early and follow up than wait until the picture is complete.
For California readers
You can browse this site anonymously. Nothing here requires you to identify yourself, create an account, or give me anything, unless you choose to fill in a form.
A link titled "Privacy" appears in the footer of every page on this site and leads here. When this notice changes, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it.
I do not sell your personal information and I do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Client and business records
If you become a client, I may retain the minimum information necessary to administer the engagement, maintain project records, meet accounting, tax, legal, and contractual obligations, resolve disputes, and protect my rights. I generally retain applicable client and financial records for up to seven years after the end of the engagement or last financial transaction, unless a different period is required or justified by law, contract, or an active matter.
How long I keep things
Scheduling information: up to 12 months after the meeting date, unless the conversation becomes an active prospect, client, contractual relationship, or another legitimate business record.
Prospect and marketing contacts: up to 24 months after the last meaningful interaction.
GA4 analytics: up to 14 months at user and event level. Amplitude analytics: up to 24 months at event level. De-identified or aggregated analytics may be kept longer where it cannot reasonably identify an individual and is needed for reporting, trend analysis, security, or service improvement.
Session replays: 30 days from capture, then deleted. That is Amplitude’s standard retention for replay data and is far shorter than the event retention above. Replays are held separately from the analytics events and are not used to build a profile of you.
Client and financial records: up to seven years after the end of the engagement or last financial transaction, unless a different period is required or justified by law, contract, or an active matter.
Your choices, and the exceptions
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information I hold about you, or ask me to stop sending marketing communications, by contacting hello@technical-humanist.com. Technical Humanist LLC is the responsible party.
I will evaluate and respond to requests in accordance with applicable law. In some circumstances, I may retain limited information where necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, recordkeeping, or dispute-resolution obligations; to honor an opt-out request; or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Service providers
I use service providers to operate parts of this business, including Web3Forms for form delivery, n8n for routing submissions, HubSpot for contact and relationship management, Loops for email, Calendly for scheduling, Google Analytics 4 and Amplitude for analytics, and other providers that support this website, communications, security, and operations. These providers process information on my behalf or under their own applicable terms and privacy notices.
Changes to this notice
I may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes in my practices, services, technologies, or applicable requirements. I will post the updated version on this website and revise the effective date above.
